We all know the struggle of figuring out how to cleverly summarize ourselves, especially when all of your creative energy is going into making amazing content 😉. Let us help take the guesswork out of how to make that first impression an amazing one!
Bio
Your bio is an important part of your profile as one of the first things people see! Visitors on your page usually decide whether they want to be paying subscribers in a very short amount of time. Make every second of that time count with this guidance. Get their attention, and explain what you offer, all while gently persuading them to subscribe.
Keep it Short
With a limit of 1000 characters, there is plenty of room to write your bio. However, that doesn’t mean you need to use all of that! Avoid having “walls” of text, the optimal sentence length for readability is around 15-20 words, be sure to divide your bio into logical sections. Short and sweet is the best way to make sure your bio is actually being read. For reference, this entire paragraph is 77 words and 426 characters.
Make it Simple
Use plain language and only include information that is necessary to potential subscribers- you have pinned posts and welcome messages to give those additional details later. Try not to get too carried away with emojis; while they are fun, using dozens can make the bio look a little too “busy” (see the formatting section for other ways to make your bio stand out). It is also helpful to use as many keywords here as possible for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes.
Set Expectations
Tell your fans exactly what they can expect by outlining all of your services and your posting frequency. A bullet list is an excellent reader-friendly method to do this. Remember to be realistic when putting this out there! Nothing dissatisfies new subscribers more than if they feel like things were overpromised.
Welcome Message
Creating a welcome message is a great way to connect with your new subscribers and provide more detailed information on your page! Here’s how to make the best use of this feature:
Main Menu → More → Settings → Chats → “Send a welcome message to new fans”
Media
Starting the message with a special photo or video that is only for your welcome message is a nice surprise. Select content that you feel will give them the wonderful greeting they deserve. You can even add an audio recording if you would like!
Navigation
Explain how to get around your page. Let them know how to use your different services and how you operate. For example, tell them how you send out PPVs and how to request them or point out if you have menus/options in your highlight reels.
Interaction
Asking a question in this very first message is a great way to immediately engage your subscribers and can also provide you with valuable information.
- “How did you find me?” This is a really helpful question because it gives you insight into where your promo is doing well.
- “What’s your name/what part of the world are you from?” This adds a personal touch so your subscribers feel more connected to you.
Another great method to ensure genuine engagement is adding something such as, “Send me a (specific emoji) for a freebie if you have read this far!”
Personality
Subscribers love creators who are genuine. There are many different ways to let your personality shine through: be yourself, tell a joke, or share an interesting personal fact that isn’t necessarily related to your NSFW side. Most of all, do not forget to thank your new subscribers! Expressing your appreciation shows you really care.
Bonus Formatting Guidance!
Make your text pop in your bio and welcome message with these formatting options:
Italicized = * One asterisk before and after text *
Bold = ** Two asterisks before and after text **
Blue, Bold, & Italicized = *** Three asterisks before and after text ***
